We would like to remind our readers that such an event would have been unheard of a century ago. The heresy of ecumenism puts the Catholic religion on the same footing as other false religions, thus contradicting what the Church has always taught: the Catholic Church is the One True Church.

According to the Oratory Catechism:

“Ecumenism is to be rejected because it opposes the unique status of the Catholic Church as the “pillar and foundation of truth” (1 Tm 3) by attempting to make the Church a means of manufacturing a unity among all Christians, all religious and all mankind.

“Ecumenism does not serve the Truth and, thus, the Catholic Church, but rather the Church is supposed to serve Ecumenism. This signifies a fundamental reversal of the status of the Church in the world. According to this doctrine, the Church should join in the dialogue with all religions and ideologies as an equal partner. The Catholic Church would then appear to be searching for the Truth along with the other partners in the dialogue whereas she herself already is, as the sole saving institution, the goal everyone is striving for.”
