With fear and trembling work out your salvation (Philipians 2:12)
We are all called to be saints. This is what Our Lord wants when he says: “Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) We should not want to be saints out of a desire for glory, but because it is the Will of God that we should attain salvation. In fact, seeing as God is so perfect, becoming a saint is the least we can do.
A great saint once said that many people go to Purgatory before Heaven because they simply did not desire Heaven enough.
St. Scholastica asked her brother, St. Benedict, what must she do to become a saint. “Will it,” was the reply.
